Humbleness is key to relationships

Numbers 16:15-35 . Moses was doing his best to lead God's people but some men started to cause trouble and didn't want to participate with Moses or join with the Israelites in following God. They challenged Moses' leadership saying that Moses only wanted to use his leadership to lord it over them. However, Moses wasn't doing that, he was doing his best to follow God's instructions. So when Moses went to Lord to find out what to do, the Lord was going to destroy all the people. But Moses fell face down and prayed for all the people. God told them to separate themselves from the troublemaker's tents. Something was about to go down. . So all the people moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram. Then these men and their family come out of their tents to see whats going on only to find the whole assembly gathered there. Since they were challenging Moses' leadership, Moses asked God to be the one to judge in this matter. So Moses said if God had chosen him, then he would pronounce judgment against the rebels. If God had chosen Moses, then the earth would open up and swallow the rebels. And if not, then nothing would happen to them. . What happened? Well, the earth opened up and swallowed Korah, Dathan, Abiram, their families and everything they owned. God had shown who he was backing. . So how does this apply to us, me? Good question. According to Hebrew 13:17 we should obey our leaders because God is the one who put them in charge and they will be held responsible for the out come. This is sometimes a hard pill to swallow especially when we don't agree with those in charge. It all comes back to our attitude, pride and humbleness. When we are humble, there are less problems. When pride comes then we have all kinds of problems. When leaders become proud, they begin to be self serving and everything goes to crap. When followers become proud they begin to rebel against leaders. Pride causes division and destroys the body of Christ. Pride causes distrust and relationships breakdown. . So how do I apply this to my life? Since I can't control other people, I can only control myself, I must make sure that I am right before God first. Then I can pray for others and ask God for wisdom in handling different situations so that in the end, God may be glorified and his people may be built up. So I ask God to forgive my pride and help me to grow in humbleness throughout my life so that I can be a blessing to those who God put above me and help them in their duties and also that I may be a blessing to those who God entrusted me to serve. May God help me to grow as a servant leader. .
