Thanksgiving 2018

Date: Nov. 9, 2018

Author: Dan Bockenfeld

It is November and Thanksgiving is approaching. Please join us for our special Thanksgiving worship service on November 18 in the Carr Chapel.

Christians love Christmas and Easter. These are big holidays on the Christian calendar, but we hardly ever think about Thanksgiving. Whereas Christmas and Easter deal with Jesus’ birth and crucifixion, Thanksgiving doesn’t have that direct connection. However, if you think about it, Thanksgiving is very important to the Christian calendar. It is a specific day to think about what God has done and give thanks to him.

This year, our Thanksgiving worship service is all about giving thanks to the Lord, as we will be focusing on Psalm 118, which begins, "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” The Lord is the great and mighty God who has even given up his own son for our salvation, and we have so much to be thankful for.

So, please join us on November 18 in Illinois Tech’s Carr Chapel (The Godbox) for a special worship service. Illinois Tech basketball star and alum Sam Rarick will be giving the message, and there will be a great lunch afterwards.
