Once again, Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is fast approaching. That means that it is almost time for Advent. Every year, Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas, which, this year, is on December 2.
As Christmas approaches, it is easy to get caught up in the decorations, food, gifts and spending time with the ones you love, but many times, this world seems to miss the most important part of Christmas. It is a celebration of the birth of our savior Jesus.
Advent is when we anticipate the arrival of Jesus leading up to Christmas. It is a celebration of his first coming and the anticipation of his return.
This year, we have a theme for our Advent sermon series: Waiting on the Lord. As we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christmas and anticipate the coming of Jesus, let’s realize that waiting on the Lord is an integral part of our faith. When we try to go do things on our own, the result is often not what we expect and, many times, we fail miserably. However, by waiting on the Lord, we put our hope in him and no matter what we are going through, we find comfort and strength as we live in our lives.
Join us for our Advent series, which starts this Sunday, and celebrate the arrival of Jesus.
