God Pardons Sin

Date: Dec. 7, 2014

Passage

Micah 7:1-20  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 7:18,19

First, Israel's misery (1-7). Society had become so corrupt that a person could not trust anyone else--not even those of his own household. In such times, we must put our hope in God our Savior.

Second, I will bear the Lord's wrath (8-13). When God's hand of wrath falls on sinful men, we must learn to accept responsibility for our sins, repent, and wait on God's mercy. God disciplines us. And, God lifts us up.

Third, God forgives (14-20). Our God pardons sin. He does not stay angry forever. In his greatness, he will hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. They are removed forever! He is the God of Abraham, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, and he is our God. He will keep his covenant with us. Through Christ's sacrifice on the cross, we can truly be forgiven and set free from condemnation.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for forgiving my sins and hurling them into the depths of the sea.

One Word: I am a forgiven sinner
