Job 3:1-26 (ESV)
Key Verse: 3:23
Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden,
whom God has hedged in?
First, Job cursed his birthday (1-10). As Job's pain grew, he began to curse his birthday. He repeated that it might have been better if he were not born. This shows his utter pain and suffering. Yet he revered God and did not curse him.
Second, Job's sighs (11-26). Job repeats that it would have been better to perish at birth or to die as early as possible. He considers death better than a life of such sufferings like his. In his misery, he wonders why life is given to a man and why God lets those in misery live. Still out of reverence to the Sovereign Lord, he did not commit suicide.
Prayer: Lord, when we undergo hardships, help us to keep faith in you to the end, instead of doubting the love and providence of the Sovereign God.
One Word: In sufferings remember Jesus who suffered!
Hosea 11:1-11
