Romans 5:1-11 (ESV)
Key Verse: 5:11
First, the benefits of justification (1-4). Being justified through faith in Christ changes everything! Once, we were enemies of God and objects of his righteous wrath. But now, we have peace with God and we stand in his grace. Nothing conveys this more wonderfully than the privilege of coming to God in prayer and calling him "Our Father". Even more, we now have hope in the glory of God - an immovable conviction that one day we will see God in all His glory and share in it. Even our tribulations have been turned to blessing as God works through these events to build spiritual maturity and strengthen our hope even more.
Second, assurance and joy (5-11). Our hope will never lead to disappointment, being confirmed by the knowledge of God's great love for us. We can feel God's love as the Holy Spirit pours it out into our hearts. Furthermore, we know God's love through the fact of Jesus' death and resurrection. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. And now that He lives, how much more will we gain through His life? Our salvation will be made complete! We will be with Jesus forever and we will be like Him. The result of all of this - our astonishing reconciliation to God - is everlasting joy. Praise His name forever!
Prayer: Father, we rejoice in wonder of your grace.
One Word: You been reconciled with God
