Romans 8:31-39 (ESV)
Key Verse: 8:37
First, God is for us (31-36). We can put to rest any insecurities we have because our ultimate assurance is not in our own abilities or strength, but in God himself. Who can overpower us or steal us away from him? Paul asks, "If God is for us, who can be against us?" No one! If God did not even spare his Son, surely there is nothing he will ever hold back from us. Because of our sinful past, we might wonder if someone could accuse us and force God's righteous hand against us. But this is impossible as well. God is the ultimate authority and his declaration of righteousness for those he has chosen stands. Christ Jesus, the one who earned our salvation through his death and resurrection, stands at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. The power of his love can never be broken!
Second, nothing can separate us (37-39). By the grace and power of God, we are more than conquerors - we are super conquerors! We can rest in the victory Christ has won for us. We can find peace and comfort in God's love for us in Christ. Because of who He is and what He has done, we can go forward with an absolute conviction that nothing will ever separate us from his love. His love never fails and nothing can get in its way.
Prayer: Father, forgive us whenever we doubt. Thank you for the victory we have in Christ Jesus our Lord.
One Word: Live as victorious children of God!
