Paul's Coworkers in Rome

Date: Jun. 20, 2015

Passage

Romans 16:1-16  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 16:16

First, Phoebe, Priscilla and Aquila (1-5). Paul was a great warrior of faith yet he was not a one-man show in doing God's work. He worked with many coworkers. He appreciated their co-working. Phoebe carried his letter to the Roman believers. Paul commended her to be well received, giving any help she may need from them, for she was been the benefactor of many people, including Paul. Priscilla and Aquila were excellent one to one Bible teachers, self-supporting missionaries using their house church for God's work. They also risked their lives for Paul. Epenetus was the first convert to Christ in Asia, whose conversion brought hope that all Asia could be reached for Christ.

Second, devoted women of God and others (6-16). There were devoted women of God: Mary, Tryphena, Tryphosa, Persis, Rufus' mother and many other sisters. Paul honored them like his mother and sisters. Paul honored Andronicus and Junia as his seniors in Christ. He encouraged them all to show the affection of Christ to one another as heavenly family members.

Prayer: Lord, what beautiful heavenly families you gave us in Jesus! Help me dearly love, respect and encourage them one by one.

One Word: Greet one another with affection
