1 Corinthians 2:6-16 (ESV)
Key Verse: 2:16
First, God's secret wisdom. (6-10) God's secret wisdom is not a matter of intellect, and it is not of this world. It is not revealed to our eyes or ears or minds. It remained hidden since before time began. It is only revealed by the Holy Spirit to those God calls. Through the Spirit we meet the God of glory, who has been preparing eternal salvation for those who love him. God does not demand that we reach his glory. He gives us the Holy Spirit. There he reveals his deep glory to us. There we begin to grow in love for God.
Second, the spiritual man. (11-16) God reveals his wisdom to us by his Spirit. The things of God are not a matter of human intellect or wisdom. We cannot understand the things of God by worldly wisdom. God gives us his Spirit so that we may know his heart and mind through the gospel. The way of the world is to be guided by pragmatism and survival. In that very place God gives us the Holy Spirit, that we may be guided to him and know his glory. Who then is the spiritual man? The spiritual man is the one who dwells in this world, but is given the mind of Christ.
Prayer: Lord, help me to love you more each day. Bless me to have the mind of Christ.
One Word: Love God and have the mind of Christ
