The King of Glory

Date: Oct. 6, 2015

Passage

Psalm 24:1-10  (ESV)

A Psalm of David.

The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein,
for he has founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the rivers.
Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to what is false
    and does not swear deceitfully.
He will receive blessing from the LORD
and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah
Lift up your heads, O gates!
And be lifted up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The LORD, strong and mighty,
    the LORD, mighty in battle!
Lift up your heads, O gates!
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10   Who is this King of glory?
    The LORD of hosts,
he is the King of glory! Selah

Key Verse: 24:10

Who is this King of glory?
    The LORD of hosts,
he is the King of glory! Selah

First, the earth is the Lord's (1-2). The earth is the Lord's and everything in it. God is concerned not only about what goes on in heaven but what is happening here on earth. We live securely knowing that He who founded the seas rules over them as well.

Second, who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? (3-6) Who may enjoy fellowship with the holy God who made everything? Only the one who has clean hands and a pure heart and does not lift up his soul to an idol. We are truly blessed if we live holy lives and seek God with all our hearts.

Third, lift up your heads, you gates (7-10). This is a call to welcome the King of glory into our lives. Who is the King of glory? He is the Lord Almighty. He is also Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords. He is worthy of all our praise and adoration. Let's welcome Him into our hearts and lift Him up today and rejoice in His divine kingship.

Prayer: Lord, you are my King of glory. I lift up your name. Please rule in me with your peace and love.

One Word: Welcome the King of glory into your heart
