Psalm 48:1-14 (ESV)
Key Verse: 48:3
First, God is in her citadels (1-8). David conquered Jerusalem, an invincible fortress and made it the city of God. It is beautiful on Mount Zion, the joy of the whole earth because God, the Great King dwells in her citadels. When enemies like the kings of Assyria, and the joined forces of Moab, Ammon and Edom advanced together, they only saw her and fled in terror. They were like ships shattered by an east wind, for God made her secure forever. As we have heard, so we have seen, if God dwells in us, we are beautiful and invincible forever.
Second, God will be our guide to the end (9-14). The temple is the house of prayer for all nations. When we meditate on God's unfailing love and his righteousness and judgment, God gives us joy and we can gladly praise God. We can proclaim God to all nations as well as to the next generation. For this God is our God who will be our guide even to the end.
Prayer: Lord, you are the great King who dwells among us. Let us rejoice and share your unfailing love to the next generation and to the ends of the earth.
One Word: God is our fortress
Acts 8:26-40
