Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving

Date: Nov. 23, 2017

Passage

Psalm 100:1-5  (ESV)

A Psalm for giving thanks.

  Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
    Serve the LORD with gladness!
    Come into his presence with singing!
  Know that the LORD, he is God!
    It is he who made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
  Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise!
    Give thanks to him; bless his name!
  For the LORD is good;
    his steadfast love endures forever,
    and his faithfulness to all generations.

Key Verse: 100:4

  Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
    and his courts with praise!
    Give thanks to him; bless his name!

1. Know that the Lord is God (1-3)

All peoples are invited to shout for joy to the Lord and to worship the Lord with gladness. We are to come to the Lord with joyful songs. We can do so when we remember who God is and what he has done for us. The Lord is God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth and of all mankind. He made us and therefore, we belong to him. But our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior is what makes us truly his people. Jesus is our Good Shepherd and we are the sheep of his pasture.

2. Give thanks and praise (4-5)

God invites us to come into his presence. We are to enter his gates and come into his courts with praise and thanksgiving. We can praise and thank God for his great love which endures forever. God is so faithful to us even when we are unfaithful. God's faithfulness continues through all generations. Let us come to God with praise and thanks as we remember his love and faithfulness.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for inviting us to come before you. We praise and thank you for loving us and being faithful to us. Help us to remember all that you have done for us.

One Word: Worship the Lord with gladness
