Daily Bread

The Egyptians Will Worship the Lord

Date: Dec. 1, 2017

Passage

Isaiah 19:1-25  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 19:21

1. There is nothing Egypt can do (1-15)

It was tempting to trust in the power of Egypt as Assyria conquered the world. Is Egypt greater than God? When He swiftly came to judge them: Their trust in idols and culture failed. The Nile, the source of their economy and industry, would dry up, devastating them. Their rulers and wisemen would become fools. There is nothing Egypt can do to resist God's will. We cannot trust in idols, culture, economy and governments, only in the hand of the Almighty God.

2. The Lord says, "Blessed be Egypt my people" (16-25)

God's judgment on Egypt has a redemptive purpose. In that day: they will humble themselves, turn to the Lord and worship him, cry out to him, and the Lord will heal them and make them a blessing, along with Assyria and Israel.

Prayer: Lord turn us from the idols of our nation. Help us worship you and be a blessing to the world.

One Word: Acknowledge the Lord
