they will not overcome me.

1. Obey in the face of opposition (1-6)
Jeremiah was speaking in the temple courts. Judah's leaders heard his message of judgment. One person who took offence was Pashhur, the priest. He was in charge of the temple. He was angry and had Jeremiah taken away and put in irons overnight. Despite what happened, Jeremiah was not dissuaded. He remained true to God and his words. He knew that God was with him.
2. God protects our hearts and minds (7-18)
Experiencing all of this suffering, Jeremiah was tossed about in an intense spiritual battle. He blamed God. He cursed the day of his birth. Jeremiah was human. His mind was prone to lose focus on God. But God was still with him, like a mighty warrior, protecting his heart and his mind to once again focus his eyes on God, the source of strength, worship and praise. That is the secret for all of us to stand as servants of God.
Prayer: Lord, when I face opposition, I lose focus on you and turmoil arises within me. But when I place my trust and confidence in you, I can sing your praises.
One Word: Sing praise to our mighty warrior!
