Solomon's Blessed Reign

Date: Jan. 3, 2019

Passage

1 Kings 4:1-34 (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 4:25

1. Happiness, peace and security (1-28)

God gave King Solomon wisdom to rule over his people, just as the king had asked. Solomon appointed both priests and administrators as his chief officials. He

organized his kingdom into twelve districts, each with its own governor. Each district supplied the royal household for one month each year. Because of God's favor and wisdom to Solomon, the people became as numerous as the sand on the seashore. (Gen 22:17) They were happy, prosperous and experienced peace and security. When leaders lead with God's wisdom, the people under them are blessed.

2. God gave Solomon great wisdom (29-34)

God's wisdom and understanding to Solomon extended beyond government administration. Solomon's wisdom was greater than any wisdom of man. He wrote proverbs and songs. He studied botany and zoology. People came from all over the world to listen to Solomon. God had truly blessed Solomon more than he had asked. (3:12-13)

Prayer: Prayer: Lord, thank you for leaders who seek you. Bless them with your wisdom and understanding.

One Word: Pray for wisdom and understanding
