Sing to the Lord

Date: Apr. 9, 2022

Passage

Isaiah 12:1-6 (ESV)

  You will say in that day:
  “I will give thanks to you, O LORD,
    for though you were angry with me,
  your anger turned away,
    that you might comfort me.
  “Behold, God is my salvation;
    I will trust, and will not be afraid;
  for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
    and he has become my salvation.”

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day:

  “Give thanks to the LORD,
    call upon his name,
  make known his deeds among the peoples,
    proclaim that his name is exalted.
  “Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously;
    let this be made known in all the earth.
  Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
    for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

Key Verse: 12:5

  “Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously;
    let this be made known in all the earth.

God’s people would experience a dark night of the soul, but it would not end in despair. A day would come when praise would fill their hearts anew. God is the savior of his people from the pit of despair and the tight grip of the wicked. In addition to his passion for justice, God desires to be recognized by his love and salvation. He is the comforter, defender, and savior of our souls.

God wants us to be free to express ourselves in times of joy. What greater joy is the feeling of freedom from fear and shame? From our awakened souls, we can make music, sing songs, and shout for joy. God created us to be seen, heard, and known. Each person is a vessel of God’s Spirit in us. Our lives can reflect the glory of God and his salvation through our stories and songs or through whatever creative expression in us let loose.

Prayer: Prayer: Lord, you are the savior of our souls and allow our souls to sing. May we find our voice in your love and mercy and your glory revealed to the world.

One Word: One Word: The LORD is my salvation.

Countless Saved from God’s Wrath by the Blood of the Lamb

Revelation 7:1-17

Key Verse: 7:9-10

A Great Multitude from Every Nation

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
