Acts 21:1-16 (ESV)
First, traveling on to Jerusalem (1-9). After they had torn themselves away from them, Paul and his companions sailed on. While at Tyre, they met with the disciples there who urged them by the Spirit not to go to Jerusalem. But Paul was determined to keep on going. Together with wives and children they knelt on the beach to pray. Then they set sail again and landed at Ptolemais. They stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist who had four unmarried daughters who all prophesied. This family was blessed with an abundance of gifts.
Second, Agabus warns Paul of persecution (10-16). Agabus the same prophet who had foretold a famine in Judea prophesied that Paul would be bound by the Jewish leaders. At this they all pleaded with him not to go. But Paul answered them, "I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus." When they could not dissuade him, they said, "The Lord's will be done." Paul had made a clear decision to be a suffering servant for the gospel.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be firm in time of persecution
One Word: Be ready to suffer for Jesus!
