Acts 21:17-36 (ESV)
First, Paul reports to the elders of Jerusalem (17-26). Paul and his companions were greeted warmly by the brothers and sisters. He gave a world mission report to the church and they praised God for his work among the Gentiles. Then they turned their attention to the situation in Jerusalem. There were rumors spreading that Paul was teaching the Jews in Gentile territories not to follow Moses or Jewish customs. They devised a plan to make Paul seem as one obedient to the law (23, 24). Though some criticize this as too extreme, Paul was being all things to all men, if by any means he might save some (1Cor. 9:19-23).
Second, Paul saved from a mob (27-36). Paul was seen in the temple by some Jews from the province of Asia. They assumed that he had brought Gentiles into the temple and they stirred up the crowd against him. They were about to kill Paul when the Roman commander and some soldiers came to rescue Paul. They bound him with two chains, fulfilling the prophecy of Agabus.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be a witness for Jesus.
One Word: I am bound for Jesus!
