Acts 23:12-35 (ESV)
Key Verse: 23:27
First, the plot to kill Paul (12-22). The Jews conspired to kill Paul and forty Jews took an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed him. But Paul's nephew overheard the plot and told the Roman commander. The commander in turn ordered his men to take Paul by cover of night to Caesarea. Satan was working to destroy God's servant but God rescued Paul from the devil's agents. God rescues godly men from trials.
Second, Paul awaits trial (23-35). The commander wrote to Governor Felix regarding Paul. God used Paul's Roman citizenship to rescue Paul. He was kept in the palace until his accusers came. God used even the palace the most unlikely place to protect his servant. Our lives are in God's hands. We must trust in God's sovereignty to protect us and provide all that we need to carry out his mission.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for rescuing godly men from trials. Protect your servant today and help me to do your will.
One Word: God rescues and saves!
