Daily Bread

Paul the Bible Teacher

Date: Oct. 10, 2014

Passage

Acts 24:1-27 (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 24:25a

First, Tertullus brings the Jews' case against Paul (1-9). Tertullus flattered the governor and then presented the false accusations against Paul that he was stirring up trouble in the temple courts. He made Paul out as a dangerous ringleader of the sect of the Nazarene.

Second, Paul's defense (10-27). Paul spoke based on facts. He had come up just twelve days ago to Jerusalem to worship and had not caused any trouble. He freely admitted to being a follower of the Way and that he believed the law and the prophets. Felix adjourned the trial. He often sent for Paul who spoke all about the resurrection, the judgment to come and self-control. His Bible study made Felix uncomfortable who was only looking for a bribe. Paul was a faithful Bible teacher and a resurrection witness of Jesus. God used him to plant seeds wherever he went in many kinds of heart soils.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for using Paul as a witness of Jesus' resurrection. Help me to also be faithful and to speak the truth to whomever you send me to. In Jesus' name. Amen.

One Word: Be faithful to speak the truth
