I Am Sending You to Open Their Eyes

Date: Oct. 12, 2014

Passage

Acts 26:1-23  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 26:17b-18

First, Paul the Pharisee (1-11). Paul presents his brief life testimony to Agrippa. He had been a strict Pharisee and was a persecutor of the church even traveling to foreign cities to capture Christians. He thought that he was doing God's will but he became a violent man and a blasphemer.

Second, Paul the forgiven sinner (12-23). On the road to Damascus, Jesus appeared to him in a blinding light. He found himself as a sinner before the holy God. Yet, the Risen Jesus forgave him and commissioned him to carry the gospel to Jews and Gentiles alike. God used Paul preciously to open eyes and turn sinners from darkness to light, and from Satan's power to God. This is the good news of the gospel. Paul was obedient to the vision from heaven preaching the gospel in Damascus, Jerusalem, Judea and to all the Gentiles.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for opening my eyes to see you. Forgive my sins and help me to proclaim your name among all people.

One Word: The Risen Jesus has sent me
