Acts 28:23-31 (ESV)
Key Verse: 28:30-31
First, Paul's intensive Bible study with the Jewish leaders (23-27). The Jews returned to hear more from Paul. He labored from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them about Jesus based on the Law of Moses and the Prophets. But the Jews remained divided. Paul reached the same conclusion as Isaiah that their hearts were calloused to the word of truth. Their pride made them spiritually blind and deaf to God's word.
Second, Paul's rented house ministry (28-31). Paul did not despair over the Jews' rejection of the gospel. Rather, he accepted this as God's direction, saying, "God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!" When God closes one door, he opens another. For two whole years, Paul taught from his rented house. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ. Through one man Paul the gospel went from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth (1:8).
Prayer: Lord, thank you for those who accept your word.
One Word: Boldly testify to Jesus!
Acts 8:26-40
