Nehemiah 2:1-10 (ESV)
Key Verse: 2:4
First, Nehemiah's sad face (1-5). Nehemiah had always been happy before the king. But the distressing news of Jerusalem made him sad and the king noticed. Nehemiah was very much afraid but he told the truth of his heart about the plight of his people. The king showed him favor asking, "What is it you want?"
Second, Nehemiah's spontaneous prayer (6-10). Nehemiah prayed to the God of heaven, and answered the king. He humbly but boldly requested permission to go to Jerusalem and rebuild the city and its walls. He also asked for letters for safety and timber supplies. The gracious hand of his God was with him, and the king granted his requests. All was going well. But there would be opposition.
Prayer: God of heaven, give me the courage to ask and do what you want me to do.
One Word: Pray, ask and do
Acts 8:26-40
