Nehemiah 2:11-20 (ESV)
Key Verse: 2:17b
First, a quiet inspection (11-18). Nehemiah arrived in Jerusalem. He did not tell anyone what God had put in his heart to do, but went quietly at night to personally inspect the damaged walls. He told the leaders: "You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins...Come, let us rebuild...and we will no longer be in disgrace." It would not be easy or fun. It would require much hard work amidst opposition. Nehemiah also told them about the gracious hand of God and the king's support. Then they were convinced to start rebuilding.
Second, opposition rising (19-20). Some people did not want the Israelites to succeed. So they mocked and ridiculed Nehemiah's team. Read Nehemiah's reply (20). The God of heaven would give his servants success.
Prayer: God of heaven, help us to prayerfully see what is needed and participate in filling the need by your help and blessing. Give us success for your glory.
One Word: The God of heaven will give his servants success
Acts 8:26-40
