Zechariah 8:14-23 (ESV)
Key Verse: 8:22
First, God does good things; so should we (14-17). God had previously determined to bring disaster on the Israelites. He allowed the Assyrians and Babylonians to ruin their fields and to deport the people. Now God was just as determined to do good for his people. The LORD also wanted his people to do good. They should speak the truth and render justice. They should not plot evil or lie to each other. God hates these things; we should too.
Second, the nations will seek the LORD (18-23). The LORD would rebuild the temple and Jerusalem. He would bless the land and his people once again. His vision was to reveal himself to the whole world. One day, many people and powerful nations would seek the LORD and entreat him. This vision points to Jesus and his church. As Jesus works in his people, they bear witness to the world of God's grace. This, in turn, leads many others to also seek Christ.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for determining to do good for us. Help us to also do good and lead others to Jesus.
One Word: Many peoples will seek the Lord.
