Passage
Matthew 1:18-25 (ESV)
Date: Dec. 24, 2014
Matthew 1:18-25 (ESV)
Key Verse: 1:21
First, Jesus' earthly and heavenly father (18-20). Joseph was a noble man like his forefather David. He was faithful to the law, but loved Mary and didn't want to expose her to disgrace. An angel helped him to understand that Jesus is not only human; he is the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Second, Jesus, Immanuel (21-25). Jesus' name means "the Lord Saves." He was just a baby so how could he save his people from their sins? Jesus came to bring forgiveness of sins. Jesus came as Immanuel. This is why God forgives our sins; he wants to be with us, and to have a relationship with us now and always. This Christmas, let's come to Jesus and be forgiven of our sins.
Prayer: Thank you Father for sending Jesus as our Savior, and as God with us. Let me enjoy you this season.
One Word: Jesus is our Savior
Genesis 49:1-28
