Key Verse: 2:9

First, you also are living stones (4-8). When we come to Jesus, the living Stone, we also become living stones in his work and history. Through Christ, God accepts our sacrifices and uses them preciously to build up his house far more than we can imagine. Those who trust Christ for the foundation of their lives will never put to shame. But those who reject Christ will stumble and fall.

Second, you are a chosen people (9-10). Those who accept Christ's redemption become his chosen people. We are royalty -- heavenly princes and princesses. We are his priesthood to shepherd and to intercede for others. We belong to the holy nation of God's people. God regards us as his special possession. We are to declare the praises of Christ our Redeemer, who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. We were en route to hell, hopelessly condemned, but now we have received divine mercy.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for choosing me. Help me to build up the house of God.
