Genesis 8:1-22 (ESV)
Key Verse: 8:15-16
First, the floodwaters recede (1-14). The flood brought terrible destruction on the whole earth. But God remembered Noah and the ark. God sent a wind and the waters receded. The ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Forty days later, Noah sent out a dove but it returned to him with nothing. A week later, Noah sent the dove out again and this time it returned with an olive leaf. God was drying out the ground. Vegetation was growing once again.
Second, come out of the ark (15-22). God was preparing the world to be inhabited again by mankind, animals and birds. When the land was ready, God told Noah to come off the ark. The birds and animals were all unloaded. As God had done in the beginning, God again commanded them all to be fruitful and increase on the earth. Noah built an altar, expressing his worship and thanksgiving.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for remembering us and saving us in Jesus. Thank you for this new life we have in him.
One Word: God gives new life
