Genesis 7:1-24 (ESV)
Key Verse: 7:23b
First, Noah obeyed (1-10). When the huge ark was complete, God commanded Noah and his family to enter the ark. He was also to take male and female pairs of clean and unclean animals into the ark. A week later, the flood began. Noah believed God's word and did what the LORD commanded. Noah could not quickly gather so many animals but God helped him. The animals came to Noah and entered the ark. When Noah obeyed the LORD, God helped him and he escaped the floodwaters.
Second, rain fell forty days and forty nights (11-24). Noah, his family and the animals entered the ark. Then God flooded the earth. The springs of the great deep burst open. God opened the floodgates of heaven. Rain fell for forty days and nights. The waters covered the mountaintops. Everything that lived on the land was wiped out. Only Noah and those with him on the ark remained. This looks forward to Jesus Christ who alone can save mankind from sin and judgment.
Prayer: Lord, your judgment is sure but thank you that we can be saved in Jesus.
One Word: Enter the ark by faith
Revelation 19:11-21
