Passage
Mark 16:1-20 (ESV)
Date: Apr. 5, 2015
Mark 16:1-20 (ESV)
Key Verse: 16:6
First, "He has risen!" (1-8). Three faithful women went early Sunday morning to anoint Jesus' dead body with spices. To their surprise, the stone was rolled away. They saw a man dressed in white, sitting in the tomb. He declared about Jesus: "He has risen! He is not here! But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.'" The women were too afraid to tell anyone. Thankfully, they did tell someone. That is how the gospel has spread from then until now. We must also speak up.
Second, go and preach the gospel to all (9-20). Though most scholars regard verses 9-20 as a later addition, these verses are a basic summary of the other gospel accounts of the resurrection (cf. Lk 24; Jn 20). The power and joy of the Christian gospel rests on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. All who believe will be saved and empowered as his witnesses. This gospel was preached to us and we have the privilege and responsibility to share it with others.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, your resurrection gives me hope, joy and victory. Empower me to share it with others.
One Word: Preach Risen Jesus, our hope, joy, salvation and victory.
Revelation 22:1-9
Key Verse: 22:3
