Job 24:1-25 (ESV)
Key Verse: 24:24a
First, why does the Almighty not set times for judgment?(1-17) Contrary to Eliphaz' theory, there are so many unjust and unfair activities done on earth and yet are not punished in a timely manner: move boundary stones, steal flocks, drive away orphans' donkey, take widow's ox in pledge, send the poor into hiding, hard labor. go naked with no food. Their crying reaches heaven yet God does not seem to immediately judge those who rebel against the light, murder, commit adultery and steal in the darkness.
Second, a little while, they are gone (18-25). Yet the Lord God is alive and judges each according to what he has done on earth. The wicked will fade away like foam on the surface of the water and like the melted snow snatched away by heat and drought. God drags away the mighty by his power and punishes those who are merciless toward the widow and the childless woman. They feel secure but God's eyes are on their ways. For a little while they are exalted, and then they are gone.
Prayer: Lord, you are living and judge the wicked not only on the judgment day but each and every day.
One Word: The Lord surely judges!
