Romans 13:8-14 (ESV)
Key Verse: 13:9b
First, love is the fulfillment of the law (8-10). We are debtors to God's costly love. He wants us to pay the debt by loving one another. Jesus summarized God's second great command, "Love your neighbor as yourself." For love does no harm to a neighbor. Love is the fulfillment of the law.
Second, the day is near (11-14). Our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over. The Day is almost here for our Lord's second coming. We must urgently put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. How can we not gratify our strong desires of the flesh? We cannot. Only when we clothe ourselves with the Lord Jesus, can we behave decently, not in drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.
Prayer: Lord, help me put on the armor of light, Jesus, and love others and not gratify my strong flesh desires.
One Word: Clothe yourself with Jesus
