Date: Jul. 5, 2015

Passage

Genesis 39:13-23  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 39:23b

The keeper of the prison paid no attention to anything that was in Joseph’s charge, because the LORD was with him. And whatever he did, the LORD made it succeed.

First, a wicked woman's plot (13-20). Righteous Joseph fell victim again to wickedness and lies. When Potiphar's wife was rejected, she turned it against Joseph, accusing him of attempted rape. Potiphar burned with anger and threw Joseph in prison. Joseph could have thought, "Is this what I get for being faithful?" We must know that sometimes being faithful to God does not result in immediate blessing or reward.

Second, Joseph in prison (21-23). God vindicated Joseph quickly. The Lord was with him in prison, showing him kindness and favor by the prison warden. Joseph was again put in charge, this time he was in charge of all the prisoners. Joseph was again responsible and caring. Are you in a tough place now? The Lord's presence is really what we need in any situation.

Prayer: Lord, all I need is your presence and blessing in any situation. Help me to trust in you and live before you today.

One Word: The Lord is with me (Mt 28
