Matthew 15:29-39 (ESV)
Key Verse: 15:32
First, Jesus heals the sick (29-31). Great crowds of people came to Jesus. They brought many sick people. Jesus healed them one by one. The mute spoke, the crippled were made well, the lame walked and the blind saw. The people praised the God of Israel. Jesus is able and willing to heal and give new life. When he does, we, too, ought to praise God.
Second, Jesus' compassion to the end (32-39). After three days of healing ministry, the food was all gone. Jesus and his disciples might have been tired but Jesus' compassion remained constant. Jesus wanted to feed them. The disciples found only seven loaves of bread and a few fish. It seemed too small but Jesus thanked his Father for it and distributed the food. More than four thousand people ate and was satisfied. There were even some leftovers.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for compassionately healing and caring for us in every way. Help me to share your compassion for the sick and needy.
One Word: Jesus has compassion for people
