The Eyes of the Lord Are on the Righteous

Date: Oct. 16, 2015

Passage

Psalm 34:1-22  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 34:15

First, taste and see that the LORD is good (1-10). David extols the LORD and calls us to glorify the LORD together. He sought the LORD who delivered him from all his fears (4). Those who look to the LORD are radiant, never covered with shame (5). He invites us to taste and see that the LORD is good and that those who take refuge in Him are truly blessed (8). The angel of the LORD camps around those who fear the LORD. Even lions can grow weak and hungry but those who seek the LORD lack nothing (10).

Second, the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous (11-22). David invites us to listen to his wisdom. If we love life and want to live many days, we should fear the LORD, keep our tongue from lies, turn from evil and seek peace (12-14). The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous to help them but his face is against those who do evil (15). The LORD is close to the broken hearted and the crushed in spirit (18). He protects the righteous and keeps even their bones from being broken. God is our heavenly Father who cares for us and listens to all our cries.

Prayer: Father, thank you for caring about all your children. Help me to seek you and live a righteous life before you and be a shepherd to those crushed in spirit.

One Word: God is watching over you
