First, "Oh that I had the wings of a dove!" (1-15). David was in great distress, in fear and in anguish. Horror had overwhelmed him by so many enemies around him. Among them the worst was not from an enemy but from a close friend, a man like himself. It reminds us of Jesus' betrayal by Judas, his close disciple. David wished to have the wings of a dove to fly away from all the troubles.
Second, aI call to God (16-23). David had no wings but he could flee to God his savior, his shelter far from the tempest and storm. Evening, morning and noon he called and cried out in distress and God heard his voice. God rescued him unharmed. God, who is enthroned forever, hears those who cast their cares on him and he sustains them. He never lets the righteous fall. But he brings down the wicked into the pit.
Prayer: Lord, when the tempest of life blows against us, we have no one to trust even a close friend. But as for me, I will cast all my cares on you, Lord.
One Word: As for me, I trust in you
