My Presence Will Go with You

Date: Mar. 10, 2016

Passage

Exodus 33:1-23  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 33:14

First, I will not go with you (1-6). When God was angry with his people who worshiped an idol, he didn't want to go with them. He would send his angel ahead of them. He still would keep his promise to give them the Promised Land of milk and honey. Moses and the people knew that material blessing without God is no different from hell. They mourned in distress.

Second, my presence will go with you (7-23). God told Moses to make a tent of meeting outside of the camp to solve this matter. Moses spent his full time for nothing but to have personal relationship with God. He sought God first with all his heart saying that without God, he would never go even to the Promised Land. Then the Lord replied, "My presence will go with you and I will give you rest." Our Lord Jesus is the perfect mediator between God and us.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for our perfect mediator Jesus. Through him God can stay with us and we with God. Help me to seek God more than his blessing.

One Word: Jesus, our Mediator.
