Exodus 40:1-38 (ESV)
Key Verse: 40:34
First, Moses did everything as the Lord commanded him (1-33). Moses set up the tabernacle just as the Lord commanded him on the first day of the first month: The ark in the Most Holy Place, then the table with bread, the lampstand with oil and the altar of incense. In the courtyard he put the altar of burnt offering and washbasin. He put the curtains for the courtyard. Moses anointed Aaron and his sons after dressing them with sacred garments. So Moses finished all the work according to the command of the Lord believing that God would go with them.
Second, the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle (34-38). Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting. The glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Almighty Sovereign God came down to dwell with his people as he promised. In all the travels of the Israelites, God led them with the cool cloud by hot day and with the warm fire by cold night. All they had to do was to follow the guidance.
Prayer: Lord, come and dwell with us and fill us with your glory. Let us follow your guidance moment by moment. Make us your royal priests and a holy nation!
One Word: Cloud by day, fire by night
