1. The elements of tabernacle worship (1-5)
Every furnishing of the tabernacle and every element of the Old Testament worship had a spiritual significance. Most significant was the Ark and its atonement cover, which represented the very presence of God, where atonement would be made for our sins.
2. What can cleanse our conscience? (6-10)
The Most Holy Place, where the Ark sat, could only be entered once a year by the high priest, and he was required to bring the blood of a sacrifice to make atonement for sins. We cannot come into God's presence and worship him unless our conscience is clear from the guilt and condemnation of our sins. These ritual offerings and sacrifices were not able to truly cleanse people's consciences. But God was preparing a better way.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for teaching me about your holiness. Show me how to worship you with a clear conscience.
One Word: A clear conscience in God's presence.
