1. Message for Hezekiah (17-35)
The leaders of the Assyrian army came right up to Jerusalem. They came with a message to Hezekiah from the Assyrian king. They ridiculed his dependence on the Lord and said that the Lord was guiding Assyria. Then they threatened to destroy the nation and its people. They planted fear and doubt of God in the hearts of the people. They also claimed that the God they trusted could not save or deliver anyone from the great Assyrian king.
2. The people remained silent (36-37)
How did the people respond? They listened to the king, and in this way, they maintained their trust in God at the darkest time. The people remained silent and steadfast. Their silence was not weakness; it was their spiritual strength. They would wait for God to deliver them.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be strong and depend only on you to deliver me in dark times.
One Word: Depend on God-he will deliver
