1. "I am planning disaster against you" (1-11)
Woe - a statement of curse - is given to those who plot evil. They take what they want simply because they have the power to. God has his own plans: disaster on them that will humble and shame them. How did God's people become like this? False prophets taught them, "disgrace will not overtake us." In contrast, Micah gave God's words, which would do good for those who are upright. Ignoring it, they became God's enemies, taking advantage of the weak and powerless. They saw the land as their resting place, a vacation spot to drink wine and beer. God says: "Get up! Go away!" Assyria would sweep clean the land they defiled.
2. The Shepherd King leads out his flock (12-13).
There was a remnant whose upright ways obeyed the word of the LORD. He was sending a Shepherd King to lead them out of darkness into his wonderful light. Jesus our good shepherd made a way for us through the gospel.
Prayer: Prayer: Father, thank you for my good shepherd Jesus. Help me listen to his word and follow him today.
