2 Chronicles 29:1-19 (ESV)
Key Verse: 29:5
First, Hezekiah mobilizes the Levites to action (1-11). The first thing Hezekiah did was to open and repair the temple doors which Ahaz had shut. He gathered the Levites and priests, who alone could minister, to consecrate themselves and the temple. Hezekiah's speech (5-11) confessed his people were unfaithful, and reminded the Levites that they were chosen to stand and serve before the Lord. Renewing the covenant with God was the king's top priority.
Second, the temple was consecrated again (12-19). The Levites had to consecrate themselves. Under Ahaz they had all been kicked out of the temple. They struggled to survive. It was not easy to renew their identity and calling, pulling away from civil life to serve the Lord's purpose. But they did so, completely consecrating the temple in just 16 days.
Prayer: Father, please help me consecrate myself for your work today.
One Word: Consecrate yourself
Acts 8:26-40
