2 Chronicles 32:1-23 (ESV)
Key Verse: 32:8
First, faith is the victory (1-8). During Hezekiah's reign Assyria dismantled Northern Israel. Sennacherib invaded Judah, right up to the walls of Jerusalem. Their plight was desperate. Hezekiah did not surrender, but encouraged his people to see God was with them. Assyria's power was nothing compared to the LORD. This strengthened them to resist the evil king by faith in Almighty God. Armies and weapons were not the deciding factor. Faith was.
Second, pride precedes the fall (9-23). Sennacherib's continuous victories over nations and their gods made him proud and overconfident. He made the fatal mistake of underestimating and mocking God. Hezekiah and Isaiah prayed to the Lord, and God sent one angel to destroy Assyria's army. Sennacherib was killed by his own sons.
Prayer: Father, you are Almighty. In impossible situations, help me not give up but trust you and live by faith.
One Word: Be strong and courageous
Acts 9:1-19
Key Verse: 9:5
