Daily Bread

God Fills the World

Date: Jan. 4, 2015

Passage

Genesis 1:6-25  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 1:25

And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

First, Sky, land, vegetation and great lights (6-19). On days two through four, God systematically created the basic structures to support animal life. God separated water from water to create the sky. Then God gathered the water under the sky to one place and put vegetation on the new land, according to their kinds. Then God created the sun, moon and stars to mark time. The ordered progression in creation reveals that God had a plan and a purpose.

Second, Sea creatures, birds and land animals (20-25). On day five, God filled the sky with birds and the sea with marine creatures. God made them all according to their kinds. He blessed them to reproduce. On the sixth day God made land animals according to their kinds. All life comes from God. Each day, God spoke and it was so. Moreover, God saw that it was good. God brought life, goodness, purpose, form and order into formlessness and darkness (2).

Prayer: Lord, I praise you for creating all things. You are powerful and good.

One Word: God created all life
