Genesis 6:1-22 (ESV)
Key Verse: 6:9b
First, judgment against sin (1-7). As people increased so did marriage. People married according to their own standards, leaving God out. The children from these marriages seemed good. They were heroes and men of various achievements. But God was not pleased. The proliferation of these marriages produced wickedness, evil, corruption and violence. The thoughts of men were evil all the time. Because of what man had become, God regretted even creating them. He decided to wipe mankind out.
Second, Noah found favor with God (8-22). Noah lived among evil people and was also a sinner. However, he sought God and found favor with God. He had a personal relationship with God. God told Noah that he would bring an end to mankind. But God would also graciously save Noah. Noah was to build a huge wooden box which would save him, his family and animals during the flood. The task looked humanly impossible but Noah did everything just as he was told.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your saving grace to the righteous. Help me to walk with and obey you.
One Word: Found righteous in God
