Job 6:1-30 (ESV)
Key Verse: 6:24
First, I had not denied the words of the Holy One (1-10). Job's anguish outweighed the heavy sand of the seas. Job thought that Almighty God caused all his troubles. This made him more fearful. He groaned, as a wild donkey brays when it has no grass. Job's deeper agony was that he did not know why God would be willing to crush him. In the midst of his unrelenting pain, he could still have one consolation and joy: he had not denied the words of the Holy One.
Second, teach me, I will be quiet (11-30). Job appeals to God to have mercy on him because he does not have the strength of stone and his flesh is not bronze. Since his friends were as undependable as intermittent streams in the wilderness, Job is waiting for God's teaching to know where he had been wrong. He wishes to hear God's word to reconsider his integrity that is at stake.
Prayer: Lord, help me never deny you and your word in time of difficulty but instead wait for you to teach me.
One Word: Teach me I will hear
Acts 8:26-40
