Job 7:1-21 (ESV)
Key Verse: 7:17
First, remember, O God, my life is but a breath (1-10). We, mortals on earth, have to toil hard, since God cursed Adam: "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food!" Job felt he was worse than a slave. For he tossed and turned with pains until dawn, even though a slave can sleep after a long day's hard labor. He saw no meaning in life but only futility. His body was clothed with worms and scabs. He saw the days of his life passing swifter than a weaver's shuttle. But he had God to whom he could cry out, "Remember, O Lord, that my life is but a breath."
Second, why have you made me your target? (11-21) Job's agony was that he even could not commit suicide for the Lord God was always with him even in his dream. Even in his sufferings he could not help admitting God's persistent caring for him, as if he were the unique person in the universe. So in the moment of such anguish, Job did not leave the Lord. He was with him, pouring out his heart upon him, just as God was with him.
Prayer: Lord, thank you so much for caring for each of us, as if we are the apples of your eyes
One Word: Who am I that you gave your one and only Son!
Acts 8:26-40
Key Verse: 8:35
