Job 11:1-20 (ESV)
Date: Feb. 11, 2015
Job 11:1-20 (ESV)
Key Verse: 11:14
First, surely God recognizes deceivers (1-12)
Zophar said much truth. Job is a sinner since no one is flawless in God's sight. No one can fathom the mysteries of God. His point was Job must have deceived God. He was pessimistic that as a wild donkey's colt can't be born human, so there would be no way for the foolish to be wise.
Second, yet if you put away your sin (13-20)
Zophar insisted that Job repent. Then he would be able to lift up his face without fear. His life would then be brighter than noonday and he would be secure. There is hope. He will lie down in safety. But the eyes of the wicked will fail and their hope will become a dying gasp. Zophar's words can be applied to all sinners but he missed the point of Job's real situation caused by Satan.
Prayer: Lord, we easily give wrong advice hurting others. Give us love and deep understanding of others.
One Word: If you devote your heart to him.
Acts 8:26-40
