Daily Bread

Though He Slay Me, Yet Will I Hope in Him

Date: Feb. 13, 2015

Passage

Job 13:1-28  (ESV)

Daily Bread

Key Verse: 13:15

First, I desire to argue my case with God (1-12).

Job knew more than Zophar. Now he desired to speak to the Almighty. For he found humans are like worthless physicians. We can deceive a mortal but the Lord is not deceived. God does not show partiality. Our proverbs are mere ashes and our defenses are defenses of clay. Therefore, Job turned to the Lord with all his heart.

Second, man wastes away like a garment eaten by moths (13-28). Job was scared but he decided to bring his case to the Lord saying, "Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him." No godless person would dare come before the Lord but Job was sure that he would be delivered. He was sure that no one could bring any charge against him. He thought he lived before the Lord. He asked the Lord two things: "Withdraw your hand and stop frightening me. Show me how many wrongs and sins I have committed." He wished to be free from sins.

Prayer: Lord, let me come to you with such confidence like Job, "Though you slay me, yet I will hope in you."

One Word: Hope in the Lord
