Job 14:1-22 (ESV)
Key Verse: 14:14A
First, but a man dies and is no more (1-12). Job sees hope for a tree that is cut down. The bud from its stump sprouts again at the scent of water. But he saw no hope for human beings, for a man springs up like flowers and withers away. God had decreed the number of his months and set limits he cannot exceed. He breathes his last and does not rise like the water of a riverbed that becomes parched and dry.
Second, if someone dies, will they live again? (13-22). Still Job asks about the possibility of one's resurrection. He puts hope in God. If only God remembers him, there might be resurrection. Job also has hope in God who will not keep track of his sin. His offenses will be sealed up in a bag, and God will cover over his sin. What Job longed for without any clear answer in his time, God answered in Jesus, a Savior who was raised again, forgives all sins and raises the dead.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for Jesus who rose and forgives all our sins and will raise us in your kingdom.
One Word: Yes! We will live again in Jesus! (1 Cor 15
